Fifth-stage mountain lodge
This shelter at the fifth stage of the mountain affords views of the summit of Mt. Apoi on a clear day. Despite its altitude of just 375 meters, alpine plants can be seen nearby.
An outcrop of peridotite (plagioclase lherzolite), which contains thin layers of plagioclase, is located around 5 meters to the ocean side of the lodge. The rugged parts on its surface contain plagioclase, which is resilient to weathering because it is harder than peridotite.
The trail continues steeply from here; climbers are advised to rest well before resuming their ascent.
